Solutions for low and intermediate-level radioactive waste

Waste management was initially imposed by legislation and has become a vital concern for industrial firms in limiting their environmental impact. The objective today is to avoid disposal of all but "ultimate" waste forms.

Ultimate waste forms are wastes that have been suitably processed and cannot be recycled.

EDF and AREVA NC, the major producers of nuclear waste in France, have squarely addressed this issue.
SOCODEI was assigned the task of designing, financing, building, and operating facilities that contribute to enhance environment protection.
SOCODEI now proposes processing solutions for a wide variety of industrial waste that are not only adapted to today's strict requirements but that are environmentally-friendly too.

All ultimate waste forms are routed to the ANDRA surface storage site. From production site waste collection to ultimate waste form transportation to the storage site, SOCODEI provides services comprehensive range to its customers.

Solutions on a European scale

At Centraco plant (in Gard department), SOCODEI is licensed to process low-level radioactive waste from foreign suppliers under the same safety conditions as those that apply to French waste. The final waste after processing are returned to the producing country

The mobile machines have already been used abroad. The treatment process provides an industrial solution for efficient storage of these materials.
